Ymateb gan Darren Owen / Evidence from Darren Owen

Dear Mr Rees and Mr Irranca-Davies,

I am writing to express my opinions re "The Great Repeal Bill", as requested by yourselves in Nation.Cymru. May I say how pleased I am that the people of Wales are being asked their views on the issues that affect them. This is an excellent way forward, please continue down this route.

I am a strong believer in autonomy for Wales, so any devolved powers currently in the care of the EU must come directly and immediately to the Senedd, and be under full control of the Senedd. If there is a question as to whether certain retrieved powers should stay in their 'EU' form, or change to a form the UK government imposes on them, the appropriate answer is to adjust said powers to a solely Welsh form i.e. tailor them to suit Wales and its people.

The Welsh Assembly Government must take full, direct and immediate control of all 'grey area' powers which are in question resulting from withdrawal from the EU. The UK parliament must not be allowed to 'take care' of said powers, even in the interim, as they have shown time and time again that they cannot be trusted in matters pertaining to Wales.

The UK government must not be allowed to claw back any of the power or powers that have so far been granted to the Senedd. If we must gain autonomy through devolution, then it is highly unfair that there should even be the suggestion that what has been given could be taken away. To give and then take away powers is grossly immoral and improper.

In a nutshell, any of the powers in question here should come under the immediate jurisdiction of the Senedd, and permanently too. The UK government has shown itself incapable of governing anything, and the sooner Wales becomes fully independent, the better.

I thank you for your time.

Yours Sincerely,

Darren Owen. (Caerphilly).
